Larry Daniel Erickson, 80, was born November 5th, 1934 in Rockford, IL to Donald and Marion (Felch) Erickson. He died at 11am on February 11th, 2015 at River Bluff Nursing Home, with his son Steve by his side. Larry graduated from East High School in 1953. He worked at Barber Coleman Company from 1951 to 1991 as an Instrument Calibration Laboratory Supervisor. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and most recently First Evangelical Covenant Church. Larry was fortunate to have two loving marriages. The first to his High School sweetheart Donna Johnson and later to Judith Kemper. Larry and Donna created many happy memories with their son Steve and daughter Val before Donna passed away in 1990. He spent many wonderful family vacations at Lake Mills in Wisconsin. Larry was a private pilot and a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams of owning a plane with Donna. He truly enjoyed singing and sang in a Barber Shop Quartet with his brother Dave and friends Sandy Elstad and Dick Harris. They were known as the “Barber Sharps”. He also belonged to Sveas Söner Swedish Singing Society. Larry had a special place in his heart for The Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. He attended many competitions throughout the years, and was an active member of the Booster Club. His daughter Val marched with the Regiment in 1977-79. In his later years, Larry and Judy’s dog Charlie brought him much joy and happiness.
He leaves behind son Steve (Sherril) Erickson of Roscoe, IL, and daughter Valerie Erickson Pausche of Katy, TX. Brothers David (Ann) Erickson of St. Charles, IL, and Donald Erickson of Portland, OR. Grandchildren Ron, Grace, Meghan, Brian, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Also, stepchildren Mark (Sonia) Kemper, Elaine Kemper, Lisa Perino, and step-grandchildren Frank and Angelina. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Donna (1990), infant twins; son Michael and daughter Katherine (1960), and wife Judy (2014).
