Lewis A Benjamin, 69, of Rockford went to Heaven on Friday, April 22, 2016. Born February 12, 1947 in Rockford, IL. Son of Arthur and Wanda (Schemel) Benjamin. Married Nora L. Craddock on July 31, 1965. Together with Nora they owned and operated A&L Drilling for 40 years. He was a logical thinker who loved to design and build things. Together they enjoyed going out for dinner, movies and family gatherings. Back in the day they traveled to many places across the United States and Caribbean. Lewis was a simple man who loved his 96 Dodge Viper sports car, playing Darts, building RC remote control airplanes and played online computer games. Every Friday and Saturday night he spent playing Lord of the Rings online with several others.
Survived by wife, Nora; sons, Lewis (Kelly) Jr. and Christopher (Melinda); grandchildren, Lewis Benjamin III, Ashlee (Trevor) Phillips, Kayla Benjamin, Tiffany Benjamin, Heather Benjamin, Halee Benjamin, Kristen Benjamin, Tasha Benjamin, Tierra Benjamin, Christopher Benjamin II; great-grandchildren, Teaghan Phillips, T.J. Phillips, Malea Grace Wolf; siblings, Margaret Benjamin, John Benjamin, Vivian (Daryl) Beeler; brother-in-law, Gilbert Walthers; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; sisters, Theresa Walthers, Lonnie Veitch; brother, Lavern Benjamin.
