

Lloyd C. Tays, 89, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. Born May 17, 1928 in Mayland, TN. Son of Vance and Myrtle (Reeves) Tayes. Veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. United in marriage on September 28, 1953 to Sharlett Hill. Lloyd had a very strong work ethic that he showed in his years working at Rockford Drop Forge where he retired from. In his retirement years he enjoyed working part time at Sam’s Club giving out food samples and as a Greeter at Home Depot. In their younger years they enjoyed traveling down to Texas to visit her sister. Together as a family they enjoyed traveling down south to stay in their cabin where they fished and relaxed. Lloyd found great passion in hunting, fishing, gardening and good conversation.
Survived by his loving wife, Sharlett; children, Ruth Whitehead, Bert Tays, Rebecca Smallwood; grandchildren, Kim Shelton, Tiffany Smallwood, Lindsay (Terry) Kruse; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, David (Judith) Tayes. Predeceased by his parents; siblings, Claude Tayes, Betty White, Mary Frances Beyers, Lucille Payne.
