Lorraine A. Raymond, age 90, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025. She was born August 8, 1934 in Frenchville, Maine to Albert and Alice (Cyr) Pelletier. She married the love of her life, Albert Raymond in 1953 and they spent 71 wonderful years together before he passed in 2022. Lorraine liked sitting down in the morning and enjoying a cup of coffee. She enjoyed many fiber arts, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch. When her kids were still in the house she was known to have a loaf of bread or a tray of cookies waiting for them to get home. She liked spending time in nature, camping with her family, and taking drives on country roads. She and Albert loved going to their summer home in Maine and visiting Galena for weekend trips. She liked putting together puzzles and playing cards with friends. Lorraine liked listening to country music. Her favorite holiday was Christmas because it brought her family together.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Michael (Linda) Raymond, Paul (Charlotte) Raymond, Cheryl Raymond, James (Beth) Raymond, Michelle (Mark) O’Donnell, Jason (Jeni) Raymond and Brian (Jen) Raymond; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Rolande Pelletier, Thelma Thibodeau, Jeanne Pelletier, Joseph Pelletier, Blanche Pelletier, and Marcie Potvin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Raymond; son, Patrick Raymond; parents, Albert and Alice Pelletier; and siblings, Jermaine, Noel, Abel, Georgette, Aurore, Bernice, Bert.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A visitation will be held for Lorraine on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1:00 Pm to 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, Illinois, 61115. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
