

Loyd Gregory, 98, of Loves Park, IL, passed away September 3, 2021. He was born on August 20, 1923 in Stoddard County, MO. Loyd was a deeply devoted husband, a loving father, and a very proud grandfather and great grandfather. He was a superfan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. He was a talented golfer, having scored a hole-in-one on more than one occasion. Loyd enjoyed quality time playing cards with friends and family, watching sports, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Loyd worked hard for more than 30 years at Greenlee Tool. He took great pride in his vegetable garden every summer and enjoyed sharing his harvest with his neighbors, friends, and family. Stationed in San Francisco, Loyd served in the United States Army during WWII. He will be remembered for his honest and hard-working nature, his deep dedication to those he loved, and his unwavering support in caring for Josephine in her illness. Family was everything to Loyd and he will be missed by many.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Charles (Dawn) Gregory, Nancy (Dennis) McKinney, and Lori (Bill) Englund; son-in-law, Mike Fulling; grandchildren; Michelle Washington, Michael Acaley, Megan Gregory, and Amy Englund; great grandchildren, Isaiah Acaley and Isabel Acaley; as well as his sister-in-law, Diana Pepitone. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members, whom he loved dearly.
He is welcomed into heaven by his wife, Josephine; daughter, Sharon Fulling; parents, Lillie and J.W. Gregory; brothers, Howard, Dale, Denver, Otis, and Darrell; sisters, Onvall, Ann and Hazel; and brother-in-law, Joseph Pepitone.
A visitation for Loyd will be held, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 between the hours of 5-7 pm. At Sunset Funeral Home, located at 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL 61115. A funeral service will be held the following morning, Thursday, September 9 at 10am at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
