Loys “Red” T. Maly, 78, of Rockford, IL passed away on October 26, 2022. He was born in Richland Center, WI on May 30, 1944 to Theron and Nelly (Robinson) Maly. Red was united in marriage to Edythe Stevens from 1963 until 1978 and together they raised 4 wonderful children. He was united in marriage to Sharyn Koerner from 1980 until 1998 and they remained best friends. Red worked at Amerock in Rockford, IL for 37 years. He loved being outdoors riding his tractor or doing yard work. Red enjoyed restoring classic cars and watching the Chicago Cubs play. He was a wonderful provider, hard worker, and was always willing to help anyone out in need. Family was extremely important to Red and he will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Red is survived by his children, John Maly, Joy (Don) Mitchell, Midge (Steve) Morrow, Michelle Stallings and like daughter, Veronica (Phillip) James; grandchildren, Heather Lawnduski, Amber Stearns, Jim (Dee) Morrow, Christen (Davonte) Jones, Hanna (Daniel) Levia, Karl Powless, Shannon Poole, Jeremiah (Rachel) Mitchell, Micah Mitchell, Shane Stallings; great-grandchildren, Tiaja Davis, Tajanique Davis, T.J. Jones, Nalicity Jones, Mike Morrow, Doug Morrow, Lily Morrow, Elijah Stewart, Madison Stewart, Ryan Lawrence, Peyton Lawrence, Adelynn Lawrence, Zienna James; his best friend, Sharyn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his children’s mother, Edythe; and his brothers, Lawrence and Lowell Maly.
Celebration of Life for Red will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded.
