

Lydia Hauff passed away on July 28, 2016 at the age of 93. Lydia was born March 7, 1923 in the Ukraine, the daughter of Aldof and Albertina Hauff. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Leonard Hauff. Lydia and Leonard emigrated from Germany and moved to Rockford in 1957 and were members of Second Congregational Church.
Lydia was the consummate mother, gourmet cook and gardener. Lydia's greatest joys were her family and her garden; she enjoyed preparing meals for gatherings that brought family and friends together. Anyone who walked in the door was made to feel welcome; she and Leonard turned every knock on the door and visit into a celebration! Lydia's very loving, kind and gentle spirit touched the lives of many, and she was loved and respected by all who knew her.
Lydia is predeceased by 3 brothers, Adam, Gustav and Herbert and two sisters, Maria and Olga Suchy. Lydia will be deeply missed by her children, Waldemar, Olga Tipton, Anna Martin (James), Leonard (Linda) and Nadja Roh (Warren), her (11) grandchildren, Eric Hauff, Jason Hauff, Adrienne Nielsen (Paul), Troy Tipton (Penny), Steve Tipton, Christopher Tipton (Lisa), Michael Martin (Agnes), Sean Marin (Kristin), Karin Zbiegien (Jack), Karin Roh and Katie Roh; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Selma Suchobrus; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
