Mandy M. Johnson

Mandy M. Johnson, 97, of Cherry Valley, IL. was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, surrounded by her family. In 1948 she married, Edwin W. Johnson, he preceded her over 40 years ago and never remarried. For over thirty years she resided in the comfort of her daughter, Linda’s home. In a life well celebrated, Mandy established herself as a caretaker, always giving so selflessly, caring and nurturing, and surrounding herself with the love of her family. Born December 27, 1919 in Kindred, ND. To Tobias and Henrietta (Peterson) Lee. She found pure joy just hugging and holding the hands of her grand and great- grandchildren. Mandy was a Cubs fan and felt so lucky to witness them winning the World Series. She found comfort tending to her flower garden and the joy that her work produced. Mandy liked donating to the casinos and she’d get a twinkle in her eye, when you would mention a trip to her favorite casino. Describing a best day for Mandy: “surrounded by all my family.”

Surviviors: children, Raymond and Dennis Johnson, Linda (Roland) Feery; grandchildren, Chad (Andrea) Johnson, Joe (Melissa) Wahlberg, Vicki (Erik) Johnson, Jeff (Julie) Johnson, Dawn (Jerome) Bernardes, Scott (Jill) Johnson, Michelle (Nick) Rhodes, Nicole (Ed) Feery, Amanda (Derrick) Kunz, Matthew (Carmy) Feery; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Betty Andersen, Marlys Nyen, Shirley (Ernie) Roberts, Dorothy Lepke; brother Dennis (Faith) Lee; daughter-in-law, Sally Johnson; sister-in-law, Eleanor Lee. Predeceased by parents; husband; 10 siblings; great-grandson, Keith Hessian; daughter-in-law, Mary Johnson.
