Margaret A Holte

Margaret Arlene Holte, 81, Machesney Park, died at home on April 18, 2013, after a long fight against Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on July 12, 1931 to Elton and Lucinda Wilson in Rural Westby, WI. She was a graduate of Cashton High School. Married Archie Holte on February 14, 1949, moved to Rockford in 1955 and retired from Warner Lambert in 1988.

She enjoyed playing golf, going dancing and an occasional trip to the casino. She also enjoyed traveling around the country in their 5th wheel trailer and spending winters in Florida and Texas.

Her family was very dear to her. She was a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, The Catholic Woman’s League, VFW Post 9759 Auxiliary, Submarine Veteran’s WWII Auxiliary, and the retired Teamster’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Archie; her children, Ann Palmer, Jacksonville, FL; Mitchell (Sally) Holte, Solon, IA; Susan Downey, Greensboro, NC, and Gary (Kathy) Holte, Belvidere, IL. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 1 sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 2 granddaughters, 1 son in law and 5 brothers in laws.

A big thank you to Hospice Care of Rockford for their many visits and dedicated care. A special thank you to Margaret’s two caretakers; Rita and Maria, who enabled the family to keep Margaret at home and receive excellent care.

A funeral service will be held at 10am, Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park. Father Keith Romke will be officiating. Visitation will be held 6pm to 8pm, Monday, April 22nd, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A luncheon at St. Bridget’s will follow interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.
