Meta B. Buss

Meta B. (Sveda) Buss, 60, of Rockford formerly of Ashland, WI passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 in her home. Born August 2, 1949 in Ashland, WI the daughter of Alfred and Isabelle (Baldwin) Buss. She worked as an Executive Secretary for the Winnebago County Assessors office for 16 years. She was a member of AFSCME local 473. She proudly served on the Executive Board as Recording Secretary on the Negotiating Team, and as Union Steward. She secured the title of Certified Illinois Assessing Official in June 2001. Survivors include children: Sheila (Greg) Sumner of Northfield, MN, Deanna (John) Berry of Caseyville, IL, Jamie (Shane) Smith of Webster, MN, grandchildren: Gavin Sumner, Elisabeth and Logan Olson, John, and Herbert Berry, step-grandchildren, Ciara, Wesley and Nicholas Smith, brothers, David Buss, Donald (Doris) Buss, Albert (Brenda) Buss, sister, Bonita Buss. Other survivors include her close friends Kathy, Char, Linda, Ursula and JoAnne. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Fritz Buss. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
