Patricia A. Darnell, 85, of Machesney Park, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side. Patricia was born in Rockford on Christmas in 1938 to Harold and Rossella McDevitt. She married the love of her life James Darnell in 1959, who preceded her in death in 2021. Patricia was a beautician her entire life, and was the proud owner of Darnell Beauty, which was operated right inside her Machesney Park home. She loved to go bowling whenever she had the chance, especially on the Early Bird bowling league at Park Lanes. Patricia was also a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs. Throughout the years, Patricia was an election judge in Winnebago County. Above all else, family was everything to Patricia. She loved spending every minute she possibly could with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to bake for them, and some of her signature recipes would include Pumpkin Pie and Banana Bread.
Patricia is survived by her four daughters, Gail (Tim) Toepfer, Sue (Chris) Konitski, Linda Myers and Johanna Marshall; grandchildren, Gregory (Heather) Konitski, Rhiannon Konitski, Stephanie Toepfer, Christopher Toepfer, Savannah Myers and Zachary Myers; great-grandchildren, Chevelle, Arwen, Milo, Ivan, Saga and Max; siblings, Gary (Debbie) McDevitt and Muriel Petroski; her grand-dog Charlie.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Harold and Rossella; siblings, Richard McDevitt, Doris Covert, and Harold McDevitt; her beloved dog Pooter, and her grand-dogs Copper and Tasha.
A visitation for Patricia will take place at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM, until the time of her funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
