Philip R Foley Jr.

Philip Russell Foley Jr., age 79, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024. He was born November 2, 1944 to Frida and Philip Foley in Wyoming. Philip served at the Loves Park Fire Department for 53 years including 37 years as Fire Chief. He married the love of his life, Margie Foley on July 9, 2018.

Philip was dedicated to serving his community through the fire department. He spent the majority of his time helping others and made the fire department his “main home”. He was very proud of his yard and how he took care of it.

Philip is survived by his wife of five years, Margie Foley; children, Philip Foley III, Tanya Foltz, and Michael Leavens; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Walt Foley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frida and Philip Foley; and nephew, Walt Foley Jr.

A visitation for Philip will be held Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A continued visitation will occur Monday, June 3, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115.
