Phyllis Remonia Dalton

Phyllis Remonia Dalton, 75, Machesney Park went peacefully with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 9, 2012. She was born in Corning, Arkansas on August 18, 1937 to Alfred F. and Thresa E. (Sauerhage) Whelchel. She lived her life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She would have us remember one thing: know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. Her family cherishes the memories of her faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus’ faithful love to her.

Phyllis married Harold M. Dalton on June 1, 1956. She worked for 17 years at Warner-Lambert until her retirement in 1999. She was a standing member of Firstborn Ministries, Loves Park, in the most recent years and a true example of a Godly woman in volunteering, supporting, and giving to the work of the Lord.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Harold; her children, Patrick O. (Angela) Dalton and Sandra D. (Joseph) Oborny; grandchildren, Nicole L. Dalton, Olivia I. and Jared D. Oborny; Brothers, Leahman L. (Marie) Whelchel and Alva T. (Clydean) Whelchel; Sister-in-laws, Catherine and Barbara Whelchel, Janice (Tony) Gomez and Betty (Ron) Smith, with numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Danny and Shelia Hanners.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Thresa Whelchel; Parents-in-law, Floyd G. and Mary A. Dalton; Brothers, Clifton W., Marvin E., Clifford F., Clinton A., Charles J. and Carvin G. Whelchel; Sisters, Viola B. (Willie) Thompson, Leona R. (Clarence) Lincoln and Imogene I. Smith; Brother-in-law, Garvin G. (Yavonne) Dalton.

Funeral service will be held at 10am, Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Firstborn Ministries, 8213 N. Alpine Road, Loves Park, Pastors, Wendell Maynard and Mike Minniear will be officiating. Visitation being held, Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, from 5pm to 7pm. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
