Raymond Vera Gomez, age 71 of Floresville, Texas., entered eternal rest with the Lord on Saturday April 8th 2023. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in San Antonio, Texas. Raymond was born July 12, 1951 in Floresville, Texas, to Margarito and Dolores Vera Gomez. He was the youngest out of 16 children, the baby of the Gomez Family.
Raymond was a resident of Floresville and parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Raymond was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Raymond was a hard worker from the beginning. He accompanied his siblings at the young age of 5 as a migrant worker in the fields. They traveled yearly to Montana, Wisconsin, Illinois, and West Texas working day in and day out to make ends meet. After graduating Floresville High School Class of 70’ he moved to Rockford, IL. There he would meet Carmela, start a family, and work at Hamilton Sundstrand for many years. Raymond worked 20 years on the machine floor and then climbed the corporate ladder into management for the rest of his career. While working full-time Raymond would return to school and excel academically to obtain his Associate’s and Bachelor's degrees. After the passing of his wife Raymond decided to retire and move back to his roots in Floresville, Texas. Living in a small town again you would frequently see him at Squeaks, H-E-B, and Floresville food mart. If you were lucky you would see him taking a joy ride around town in his yellow Corvette. Raymond was a wonderful provider and family oriented man. He liked his children, but loved his grandchildren with the most immense love one could endure. There was literally nothing he would not do for each and every one of them. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing he is in the Kingdom of Heaven walking hand in hand with Carmela again.
He is survived by his son Rueben (Crista) Gomez of Loves Park, Illinois. Daughter Christina Gomez of Floresville, Texas. and Daughter Jennifer (Justin) Hermosillo of Floresville, Texas.
