Richard Patrick Doherty

Richard Patrick Doherty, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Born June 19, 1935 in Loves Park, IL. Son of Fintan Patrick and Uveta Fay (Bloyer) Doherty. Attended Harlem High School. Veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany. United in marriage to Janet Buss on June 6, 1958 at South Park Covenant Church in Rockford. Employed by Gustave A Larson Company for 36 years having retired in 2002.

Richard found enjoyment in gardening, mowing the yard, fishing in Hayward and watching the Chicago Cubs.

Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet; children, Ed (Chris), Linda (Tim) Harris, Brian (Karen); grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff) Vardell, Tim (Kiley) Doherty, Laura (Dan) Kurich, Meghan (Joe Fritzsche) Doherty, Mary Doherty, Michael Doherty; great-grandchildren, Melody Hipp, Isabella Doherty, Benjamin Kurich, Tatum Doherty, Savannah Vardell; brothers, Bill of Loves Park and John “Jack” of Janesville; brother-in-law, Willie Wenger of Rockford; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; siblings, Lorraine and Jeanette Doherty in childhood, Marilyn Wenger, Mary Misuraca, Robert Doherty.
