

Richard L. “Dick” Gresty, 73, of Machesney Park, IL. died Saturday, July 29, 2017. Loving husband, dad and Poppy. In a life well celebrated, Dick served his country proudly as a veteran of the Army. In 1964 he married his sweetheart Karen Murray and together shared 53 years while raising their two sons. Best known for Gresty Auto Sales first on Broadway and his current location on Harlem Rd. in Loves Park, Il.
Dick was loyal and generous to the community, sponsoring several baseball and basketball teams especially the HCC. He was a huge cheerleader for his grandchildren’s sporting games and for the CUBS and BEARS and his home reflected his loyalty. His patriotism was showcased outside his home on Alpine. Together with his wife and family they enjoyed their frequent trips to their home in Vegas. Dick was a member of Northeast Christian Church. He was born in Beloit, WI. on September 30, 1943 to John and Lillian (Cassata) Gresty.
Survivors: wife, Karen; sons, Michael (Tonia) and Richard Gresty; grandchildren, Michelle, Janelle, Richard L. II, Michael Jr., Caden, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Wyatt, Maddux, Lyla; siblings, John and Ronald Gresty; best friends, Dave Clikeman and John Whiteford. Predeceased by parents; brother, Gary; sister, Rosemary. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Harlem Community Center.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, at Northeast Christian Church 5651 E. Riverside Blvd. Loves Park, IL. Visitation 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
