

Richard Naugle was born in Union, IL on November 4,1932 and died peacefully in his home on February 12, 2025. Dick was born at home to Morris and Minna Ulrich Naugle. His family included siblings, Chuck, Jerry and Gloria.
Dick was a very proud Airman First Class who served 4 years in the Air Force and was a crew chief during the Korean War. Upon his return from active duty, he married the love of his life, Donna LeBeau, on September 22, 1956. Their family grew with the birth of their son, Scott, followed by their daughter, Trace. They settled in New Milford, IL where they lived for over 65 years. Dick worked at National Lock and Kelly Springfield as a millwright.
Dick was a loyal son, proud Airman, devoted husband, loving dad and proud grandpa who adored his grandkids and great grandkids. There was never a book he couldn’t finish reading in 2 days. He enjoyed sharing meals and conversations with his friends and family. Dick will be most remembered for his abundant generosity, loyal friendships, grateful integrity and positive spirit. He will be deeply missed by those who enjoyed and appreciated spending time with him.
Survivors include sister, Gloria (Bill) Johnson; sisters-in-laws, Phyllis (Chuck) Naugle and Yvonne (Jerry) Naugle, son, Scott; daughter-in-law, Jodi Nelson Naugle; grandsons, Michael (Erica) Naugle, James (Shanon) Naugle; great-grandchildren; Kaylee and Dylan Naugle, Charlotte and Jackson Naugle; and good friend and caring neighbor, Doug Hollandsworth.
Predeceased by his parents; wife; daughter, Trace Lucas; brothers; and brother-in-law.
The family sincerely appreciates the care provided by the OSF Home Care and Hospice staff. In addition, they are especially grateful for Dick’s caregivers, Misty and Holly, from At Home Comfort Care. Their compassionate, dedicated efforts made it possible for the family to honor his final wishes to remain home with the dignity and respect he deserved.
His visitation will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 5-7pm and on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 9-10 am at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL. 61115. Funeral service with military honors will occur Friday, February 21,2025 at 10am at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. His final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
