Richard George Williams

Richard “George” Williams, 78, of Rockford, IL, passed away on August 14, 2023. He was born in Portia, Arkansas to Richard Jefferson Williams and Erma Josephine Williams. George married Barbara Williams on May 12, 1981. George was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, who passed on July 7th, 2022.

He is survived by children, Melissa (Jon) Munce, Rich Williams, and step children Lisa (Tom) Wells, and Greg (Juni) Kerr; his grandchildren, Andrew (Tianna) Munce, Kathryn Munce, Raechelle Williams, Justin Wells, Ryan Wells, Josh Hall, and Sam Hall; his great-grandchildren, Bennett Hall and Hamilton Hall; his sisters Kay (Bob) Layman and Becky (Bert) Hanson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

George worked for 50 years as a machinist and never met anything he couldn't fix. He is loved by many and has helped even more. He was involved for years with Heartland Church as a long-time volunteer and attendee. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those he impacted.

Funeral Service for George will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Entombment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens-Chapel of Peace.
