Ricky Loveland

Ricky Loveland, age 71, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025. Ricky was born on August 23, 1953 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, the son of John Loveland and Mildred (Gene) Middleton. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp for four years and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Camp Lejeune. Ricky married the love of his life, Susan McIntosh, on March 12, 1982 in Rockford. He was employed as a supervisor at Lorine Manufacturing and went on to work for a medical logistics company until retirement. Ricky loved fishing, drawing and reading. He enjoyed watching movies and television, especially Superman, Marvel and Star Wars. Ricky was stubborn, and had a great sense of humor. He will truly be missed by everyone.

Ricky is loved by his wife, Susan; children, Matthew (Rachel) Loveland and Christopher (Cynthia) Loveland; grandchildren, Arqeil, Marlie and Kane; siblings, Debra Haynes, Janet (Gary) White, Tony Middleton and Jerry (Sue) Middleton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Louie Loveland, Ronnie Loveland and Shirley Myers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the William S. Middleton VA Hospital for their loving and compassionate care of Ricky, and Tiffany at Mercy Health.

A visitation for Ricky will be held Monday, August 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial with military honors to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
