Roger Donovan

Roger Donovan, 87, of Rockford, IL, passed away Wednesday morning, November 6, 2019 at William S. Middleton Memorial Hospital in Madison. He was born April 23, 1932, in Rockford. Roger proudly served in the United State Air Force from 1952-1956 and was stationed at Donaldson Air Force Base in South Carolina. He married the love of his life, Barbara Dukey on July 26, 1956 in Rockford, IL. Roger was a shipping and receiving clerk and was a truck driver. He was a jack of all trades, who enjoyed gardening, bowling and roller skating. Roger was the patriarch of our family and he will truly be missed.

Roger is survived by his children, Roger Donovan, Cynthia (Ray) Meives, Scott (Kim) Donovan, and Bob (Jessica) Donovan; grandchildren, Joel, Canduss, Katrina, Shaun, Alex, Jordan, Lindsey, Libby and Drew; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ethel Hill and Jerry Donovan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, daughter-in-law Julie Donovan, and siblings, Jack, Mary, Betty, Norma, and Marge.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a memorial service to begin at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
