Ronald "Ron" L. Guenther, age 66, of Loves Park, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. He was born to Carol and Calvin Guenther on August 2, 1956, in Rockford, where he was also raised. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in 1975. He married Linda on February 9, 1991. Ron worked most of his life in the Rockford area in machinist/CNC positions at various companies, from White Sundstrand to Ekstrom-Carlson, from Rockford Air Devices to Haldex Hydraulics, and in most recent days at Seraph Industries. He also earned a CDL license in 2010, and spent some time over the road driving.
Ron's faith was an important part throughout his entire life. He spent two years at Jesus People USA in the early 1980s. Upon relocating to Rockford, he became a member of Riverside Assembly of God, where he participated for many years with activities that included being a musician in praise and worship (drummer), Royal Rangers, and Bible studies. He shared his gift of music by performing at vesper services. He loved music, especially Christian rock music.
He enjoyed not only playing, listening and collecting music, but also working out, traveling, riding electric bikes, and listening to audiobooks. He loved his country, and was an advocate for our second amendment rights. His love for hot sauce was well known, earning him a nickname of "Hot Sauce". He made incredible beef jerky and enjoyed sharing it with his family and friends. Ron looked forward to grilling and having bonfires with his family, even entertaining them with fireworks. He was a high-energy person, who loved to make people laugh, and he loved talking about the gospel and how it changed his life.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; only daughter, Valerie (Spencer) Pumphrey; grandson, Jackson Pumphrey; sister, Stacey Guenther; many cousins in the Oshkosh area.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a possible donation to Rockford Rescue Mission, at www.RockfordRescueMission.org. Share hope and help in Jesus' name.
