On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, Roxanne Chiodini, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at age 75.
Roxanne was born on May 30, 1944 to Walter and Gertrude Burtch (Schoening) in Rockford, Illinois. She was a graduate of West High School, raised her three children, and worked for many years at Rockford Health System.
Roxanne was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing sudoku, mahjong and card games, and writing poems. She loved spending time with her friends and family – particularly her grandchildren and nieces. Education was important to her, and she was very proud of her grandchildren’s achievements. She loved animals and was a wonderful ‘mom’ to her beloved cat Callie. She was known for her compassionate spirit and unique outlook on life.
Roxanne was preceded in death by her mother Gertrude, father Walter, and brother Mike. She is survived by her three children, Tony (Karmen), Tim, and Lisa (Cameron Denemark), five grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas (Kayla), Joey, Marina, and Melina, two sisters, Gay (Joe) McDaniel and Sue (Jerry) Middleton, and several cousins and nieces. A special mention to her best friend since grade school, ‘Aunt’ Char.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Swedish American Hospital for your care with Roxanne in her final days, it meant the world to her family.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Burial in Sunset Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
