Roy C. Clark, 101, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017 in his son’s home. He was born in Delaplaine, Arkansas on February 6, 1916 where he married Victoria Maynard and they raised seven children together and owned and operated a cotton farm. They moved the family to Rockford, Illinois in 1951 where he later opened Clark’s gas station and service center that he and family members operated for decades. He served as a Mason and Precinct Committeeman in the city of Rockford. He loved meeting new people and always remembered everyone he met. He had a positive personality and a warm smile that made people feel comfortable as soon as they spoke with him. He took pride in his big family, working hard and never drinking or smoking. He always instilled a strong work ethic and the importance of family.
He is survived by his children: Helen (Shirley) Clark, Ellen Owen, Betty Clark-Church, Tom (Sharon) Clark and Roger Clark. He is predeceased by his wife, Victoria (Maynard) Clark; second wife, Louise (Stokes) Clark; children, James (Donna) and Bob (Fran); grandchildren, Donald Clark, Daniel Clark, Kristy Winn; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Neblock, James Clark and Travis King. A special thank you to Dr. David Hansen and staff.
