Shirley A. Goodman, 78, of Loves Park passed away Wednesday November 9, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital. Shirley was born on August 8, 1944, in Ipswich, South Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Christina (Landfried) Peterson. She married Earl F. Goodman on August 7, 1975, in South Dakota and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1998. Shirley was a graduate of Ipswich High School and worked for over 25 years as Hostess at the University Club in Rockford. She was an avid bowler at B & B Park Bowl, where she bowled on 2 leagues. She loved playing games on her tablet and enjoyed the company of her favorite cat “Payton”.
Shirley is survived by her siblings: Ellen (LeRoy) Malsam, Larry (Brinda) Peterson, Betty VonEye, Donna Retzer, Gloria Leidholt and Nancy (Vernon) Kaiser; numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother: Jerry Peterson and sister: Sandra (Durran) Kaiser.

Visitation for Shirley will be Monday November 14, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be 10:00 am Tuesday November 15th at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
