Shirley J. Hammond

Shirley J. Hammond, 80, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Shirley was born November 16, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. In 1979, Shirley married the love of her life, James Hammond, who she has missed every day since his passing in 2015.

Shirley was the life of every party, and always had a smile on her face. She loved hosting Christmas Eve and family gatherings at her home. Shirley loved her wine, a margarita at dinner, and sitting out in the sunshine with family and friends.

Most importantly, Shirley loved her family, especially her grandchildren. They were truly the light of her life, and kept her going on hard days. Her world truly revolved around their happiness, and spending time with them.

She is survived by her children, David Bolding, Lorrie (Mike) Bilodeau, Nick (Vanessa) Hammond, and Tiffney Hammond; many, many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Owens and Ronnie (Nancy) Erdohaty; multiple nieces and nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband and best-friend, James Hammond; sons, James Hammond and Richard Bolding; parents, Leroy and Jean Owens; daughter-in-law, Diana Bolding.
