Sue was born in Rockford, IL on December 22, 1961 to John and Marie (Armato) Hilliard. Sue attended Jefferson High School, class of 1980, where she met her lifelong friends that became family. She married the love of her life James Robertson on February 19th, 2016 and settled into their home in Machesney Park. Their relationship was one of a kind, full of love and lots of laughter. Sue was a light in any dark place you encountered and would never hesitate to offer a helping hand or a warm meal. Her smile was contagious and she was always quick to make friends wherever she went. Sue was so proud of her daughters and made sure to tell them that every single day. She worked hard at various companies like Rapid Granulator and Parker Hannifin, but nothing compared to her career as a mother and wife where her performance was unmatched. Sue enjoyed sunshine, traveling and gambling, but most of all, spending time with her friends and family.
Her spirit will be carried on by her loving husband, Jim Robertson; her daughters, Gayle (Brian) McMullen and Erin McMullen; granddaughters, Mea and Maci; favorite and most spoiled Grand-dogs, Stella and Bear; sister, Kay (Dave) Rumple; as well as numerous close friends and family who will miss her immensely. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Hilliard, brother, Johnny Hilliard and numerous aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held Saturday, June 18th, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115, which will also be her final resting place.
