

Thelma M. Schroeder, 96, of Rockford passed away October 6, 2014 at Wesley Willows Health Center. Born March 16, 1918 in Hancock, WI; she was the daughter of Charles and Iva (Cain) Rittenhouse. Thelma grew up in Minneapolis, MN, where she married Kalmer “Cliff” Schroeder on December 13, 1941.
During WWII, she was employed with the Army Quartermaster Corps in Fort Riley, KS as a civilian. A long-time member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Thelma volunteered for many years at Maud Johnson Elementary School. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
During retirement years, she and her husband, Cliff, spent time in the Minneapolis Lake area and Rockport, TX; moving back to Rockford in 1994.
Survivors include her sons, Richard (Nancy) and Steven (Robin) Schroeder; grandsons, Brian, Jeffrey, and Daniel Schroeder; granddaughter, Sara Schroeder; great-granddaughter, Emma Anderson-Schroeder; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, many special friends and caregiver, Molly O’Neil.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother, Donald Rittenhouse.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9th, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Alpine Road, with Pastor Robert Rub Jr. officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service.
