Wanda Rae Boan, 79, of Rockford died Sunday December 11 at home. She was born August 3, 1932 in Rockford to Orbie and Anna Pauline Dailey. She married George Boan in Dubuque, Iowa. She came from a musical family and was a talented singer her whole life. She was a member of the WLS Barndance, the Hayloft Jamboree, and Wanda Rae and the Country Charmers & Charmettes. She enjoyed swimming, flowers, and hummingbirds. Wanda loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and her large extended family where no one was a stranger.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years George; children Sherry (Dennis) Meier, Patty (Jim) Gibson, Vicky (Ken) Tremaine, Judy (Rory) Robbins, Andy (Cindy) Boan, Jeff Sorn; forty-six grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; and a sister Sharon (Donald) Mullen. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Billy Boan, grandson Matthew, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be from 12 pm until the 3 pm service on Saturday Dec 17, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd. Machesney Park. Cremation rites will be accorded. The family would like to give a special thanks to Heartland Hospice, Nurse Deb and Dave, Amber & Brandon for all their loving care and support, and good friend Bob Meinert.
