An Army Veteran of WWII, he retired from W. A. Whitney. He was also a former captain of North Park Fire Department.
Wayne loved playing baseball and fishing. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan who enjoyed watching them on television as well as wrestling. He also enjoyed attending sporting events with his sons.
Survivors include his sons, Charles (Sandra) of Florida, Dale of Illinois, and Denny (Sue) Vanstone of Kentucky; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
Funeral service, 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Visitation 9 a.m. to time of service. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be submitted at sunsetfhmemgardens.com
