Carol Castellaw Wharton, 76, went, restored to health and whole, to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 25, 2023. While grieving their own loss through her passing, her family and friends rejoice in her healing and presence with the Father.
Carol was born in Atlanta to the late James Allen and Laura Belle Castellaw and grew up there before moving to Hawaii and Mississippi, eventually settling in Macon where she lived and raised her children. She worked most of her life in Medical Administration, most recently for Coliseum Same Day Surgery and then finishing her career with Middleton Pediatrics. Carol was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church for over 40 years where she faithfully rocked babies in the nursery and was a member of the Bowman-Crowley Sunday School class. The greatest joys of her existence were her much loved eight grandchildren who affectionately called her Mamama.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Jim Wharton, and sister, Laurann Colarco. She is survived by her daughter, Conni Tane (Van), son, Dr. Michael Middleton (Adair), grandchildren, Connor Middleton, Luke Middleton (Georgia), Caroline Tane, Emmy Tane, Drew Middleton, Mary Michael Tane, Van Tane, III, and Ansley Allen Middleton, cousins, Beverly Hardin (Rick), Christopher, and Mary Hannah.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Sunday, August 27, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Snow’s Memorial Chapel on Bass Road.
