Carolyn Cunard Gilbert, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Main Gate with the Chaplain Dahl Moss, MDiv officiating. Social distancing and face mask are required to be in attendance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon GA 31201.
Carolyn was born in Monticello, Georgia to the late Charles V. and Elizabeth P. Layson Cunard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Holt Gilbert, and several siblings. She was retired from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Macon and was of the Methodist faith. Carolyn enjoyed playing golf at the Brickyard and playing with the Dixie Seniors. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her special caregiver, Loretta Swint, and the many other caregivers and Homestead Hospice for the love and care given to Mrs. Gilbert.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie K. Gilbert (Melinda Stewart) of Macon, daughter, Lisa Gilbert (Ray Pippin) of Macon, two grandsons, Zachary Gilbert and Wesley Gilbert, brother, Doug Cunard (Barbara) of Macon, and several nieces and nephews, and her special companion cat, Sadie.
