

Claud Leslie Combs, Jr., 86, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 1:00 pm in Riverside Cemetery (Madison Street), with Mr. Steve Combs officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 7:00-8:00 pm, at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes at P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281, or to the Salvation Army at 1955 Broadway, Macon, 31206.
Mr. Combs was born in Miami, Florida to the late Claud L. Combs, Sr. and Mildred Wilson Combs, was a graduate of Lanier High School, and served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He retired from Georgia Kraft Company after 40 years, where he served as Local I.B.E.W. president for many years. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Deborah Brantley Combs in 2008 and his wife of 58 years, Estella Virginia Cheatham Combs in 2009.
Mr. Combs is survived by two sons, Steve (Cindi) Combs and Scott Combs of Macon; a daughter, Lee Ellen (George) Shelton of Macon; six grandchildren: Gina (T.C.) McCarthy, Joshua (Amidah) Combs, Vanessa (Greg) Hiller, Jonathan (Kimberlie) Davis, Matthew Combs, and Jennifer (Craig) Ellis; 12 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert P. Cheatham of Austell; and a sister-in-law, Ruth K. Cheatham of Sandersville.
