Claude Wood

MACON – Claude A. Wood, 84, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at New Elim Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Johnny Baggett will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 until 8 pm Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.

Mr. Wood was born in Gordon, Georgia and was the son of the late Lonnie A. and Kate Wood. He was retired from Georgia Kraft and was a United States W.W.II Navy veteran. Mr. Wood was a member of New Elim Baptist Church where he was former chairman of the deacons and a Sunday School teacher. He loved fishing, hunting, boxing and the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Wood was a true loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan Wood of Macon; daughters, Gail Wood (Ronnie) West of Macon, Sharon Wood (Ed) Fay of Las Vegas, Nancy Wood (Mike) Giusto of Macon; son, Alan Wood of Macon; grandchildren, Deidra West, Lindsay West, Jade Giusto and Jalyn Giusto; several nieces & nephews including a special niece, Deborah McGrotha of Macon.
