

Doris Coleman Horton, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 01, 2017 surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Anthony officiating. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. Mrs. Horton, devoted and proud military wife of the late Lt. Col. (Ret) Woodrow Wilson Horton, was a native of Macon and the daughter of the late Berry Wiley Coleman and Sallie Belle Poston Coleman. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Bolton and Jackie Smothers, two brothers, Wiley Coleman and Roger Coleman. Mrs. Horton was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church for fifty years and volunteered in the Church office as she was needed. She was also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and was instrumental in the Wednesday Night Family Suppers. Mrs. Horton was an avid bird lover and especially loved her dogs. Most of all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry (Sandy) Horton and David (Jane) Horton; her daughter, Jane (Fred) Simonelli; her brother, James (Rubie ) Coleman; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to the staffs at John Wesley Villas and at Zebulon Park Health and Rehab for their gentle and compassionate care.
