

MACON - Dorothy Coletus Taylor Allen Eaton, 83, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 20, 2010 in Cochran, GA at Bleckley Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Ken Brooks of First Baptist Church, Cochran will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shamgar Ministries, P. O. Box 481, Cochran, GA 31014 in memory of Dorothy Eaton. Shamgar is a local non-profit construction ministry helping those in need.
Mrs. Eaton was born October 30, 1927 in Chester, GA and attended Cochran schools, graduating in 1944. She had lived in Macon for sixty-five years. Mrs. Eaton was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church filling many precious years as a teacher, counselor and choir member. Mrs. Eaton also followed God’s leadership as she devoted her money and time as a board member for Evangelist Reverend Vernon Brown, former pastor of Tabernacle. She worked at Robins Air Force Base as an Inventory Management Specialist until she retired in 1980. Mrs. Eaton was preceded in death by her father, J. W. Taylor, her mother, Allie Harrison Taylor Bass and one sister, Carolyn Taylor Smith Woods.
Mrs. Eaton’s memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Marlene Leonard of Macon, her son, David (Brenda) Allen of Cochran; her sisters, Bessie Annette Taylor Bond (Stanley Bond II) of Savannah, Pauline “Polly” Taylor Littlefield of Cochran, and Shirley Taylor Coyne of Dewey, Arizona; grandchildren, Shannon Van Horn, Joshua Leonard, Amy Harden, Lori Allen, Shannon Sanders; great grandchildren, Autumn, Chase, Bailey, Lane, Kaylin, Wyatt and Jacob; many nieces and nephews.
