

Edith Willis Smith, age 99, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on March 15, 2023. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, Georgia with the Rev. Creede Hinshaw officiating.
Toots, as she was lovingly known by family and friends, was born on November 10, 1923 in Macon, Georgia to Ed and Edith Kaler Willis. She is survived by her grandson, David Smith (Chris), great-grandson, Jordan Smith, her niece, Kay whom she thought of like a daughter, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Smith, a pilot in the United States Air Force, her 3 children, Scott, Glen, and Gary (Kathryn) Smith, and her beloved sister and best friend, Mary Willis Lovett.
In childhood, she was a member of Mulberry Methodist Church in Macon, Georgia, returning as an active member of the congregation when she moved back to Macon after Sidney’s passing to help care for her mother. Toots attended Mercer University before marrying Sidney. They lived in many areas of the United States while Sidney served in the Air Force. Toots, always independent, worked in the banking industry and served as Vice-President of a local bank in Memphis,Tennessee.
In retirement, Toots enjoyed watching sports with her friends and family. She was an avid Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. Her weekends were spent cheering on her favorite teams.
Toots personified joy and lived each day to its fullest. She and her sister, Mary, traveled the country; she was always up for fun and laughter. They were a dynamic duo and loved making memories together on each new adventure. Toots’ life is remembered as one of color and brightness from her color-coordinated style to her outgoing personality.
