George Willis McKinney Jr.

George W. McKinney, Jr., 76, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. A celebration of his life will be held at graveside at 11 a.m., Monday in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Len Woodard officiating. The family will meet friends from 4 – 6 p.m., Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono and ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to your favorite charity.

Mr. McKinney, son of the late George Willis McKinney and Winona Janet Joyner McKinney, was a lifelong resident of Macon and a graduate of Lanier High School. He served with the U. S. Naval Reserve and was retired from Macon Water Authority. Mr. McKinney was of the Baptist Faith. He was devoted to his family and will be remembered and treasured as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and known as a friend by many. If he knew you, he cared about you.

Survivors include those he loved most, his wife, Karen Hayes McKinney of Byron; his son, Greg McKinney; his beloved grandchildren, Jenni, Courtney and Cody McKinney; his brother, W. Gary (Sue) McKinney and several cousins.
