

Macon – Gertrude Hunt Hudson, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 29 at 11:00 am at Sardis Cemetery at Grace Primitive Baptist Church on Sardis Church Road with Elder Dan Bryant officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday, March 28, from 5-7 pm at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Grace Primitive Baptist Church in care of Larry Wiggins, 272 Sandpiper Lane, Byron, GA 31008. Mrs. Hudson was born on May 26, 1916 to the late John Franklin Hunt and Mamie Sandefur Hunt in Houston County. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William F. Hudson; her sisters: Mary Alice Pierce and Margaret Nowell; her brother: Tommie Hunt, and her grandson: Chad Helms.
Mrs. Hudson graduated from Georgia State College for Women (GSCW) and taught second grade in Houston County until her marriage to William Hudson. After marriage, she became a homemaker, mother, and helpmate on Hudson Farm in Southern Bibb County. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter: Trula Dawn (Edward) Helms of Macon; a son: Oney H. (Anne) Hudson of Macon; grandchildren: Matt Hudson of Lizella, Alicia (Lance) Belflower of Byron, Lance W. Hudson of Evans; great-grandchildren Rachel Belflower, Charles Belflower, Dean Hudson, and Will Hudson.
