Gloria Peacock Taylor, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 7, 2026, at the age of 77. A Requiem Mass will be said on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Johnson officiating. Her burial will be private for family only.
Born on June 21, 1948, in Cochran, GA, she was the daughter of Annie and Cleveland Peacock. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Laura Collins and Gary Peacock, and her beloved son, Daxton Taylor, who passed in 2018.
Gloria was the proud and devoted mother of four beautiful and accomplished children: Michael Taylor (wife Macy), Brian Taylor (wife Caroline), Daxton Taylor, and Kristin Taylor Griffin (husband Michael). Her greatest joy was her family, and she poured her heart into every role she held. She was a cherished grandmother, lovingly known as “Glo Glo”, to Zachary, Grace, Olivia Faith, Lincoln, and Magnolia, each of whom knew her love deeply.
Gloria was the most loving mother anyone could have asked for. She had a rare gift for making everyone she met feel special and important. She remembered the little things—the birthdays, the favorite songs, the quiet struggles—and used them to show just how much she cared. She truly never met a stranger.
A lifelong lover of music, Gloria was fortunate to turn that passion into part of her career. She worked for Paragon Booking Agency, where she booked rock and roll bands—including legendary groups such as The Allman Brothers—for performances around the world. People especially loved speaking with Gloria during bookings, not only for her professionalism and warmth, but also for her unmistakable Southern accent, which made every conversation memorable.
Later in her career, Gloria worked for Mercer Medical School before ultimately retiring from North Macon Family Physicians, where she served as a dedicated medical transcriptionist for over 30 years. Her work ethic, attention to detail, and genuine care for others were evident in everything she did.
Gloria was always the team mom, the class mom, and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. She loved unconditionally, motivated endlessly, and gave freely of her time, energy, and heart. Her kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on all who were blessed to know her.
A devout member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Gloria lived her faith daily through compassion, service, and love for others. She was the epitome of what a true mother should be—selfless, encouraging, and overflowing with love.
Fittingly, Gloria cherished the symbolism of the peacock—her maiden name and a reflection of her spirit. The peacock represents beauty, dignity, compassion, and renewal, qualities she embodied throughout her life. Just as the peacock’s feathers are vibrant and unforgettable, so too is the legacy of love, kindness, and grace she leaves behind.
Gloria Peacock Taylor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit lives on through her children, grandchildren, dearest friends, and the countless lives she touched.
Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road, has charge of arrangements.
