

MACON – Iris Nell Everly, 70, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Billy Henderson and Mr. Tom Evans will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Everly, daughter of the late E. C. and Gladys Wells Morris, was born in Kite, GA and had lived in Macon most of her life. She was a graduate of Miller High School and worked as a Para-pro at W. T. Morgan Elementary School. Mrs. Everly served for fourteen years as a Girl Scout Leader and because of her love for children, was very active in the school life of her children and grandchildren. She was the foster grandmother for many, many children over the years and was active in their school life as well. Mrs. Everly was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Alesa Somers and by her sister, Faye Moss.
Survivors include her husband, Ben Everly of Macon; her son, Scott (Joy) Everly of Walnut Cove, NC; her daughters, Belinda Somers and Tina (Billy) Henderson of Macon; her beloved grandchildren, Ben and Tori Everly, Miranda, Olivia, Joshua and Troy (Allison) Somers; her brother, Phil (Jene) Morris of McDonough; her sister, Mahala Edwards of Morrow and several nieces and nephews.
