James Kent Allen Sr., 76, passed away Wednesday, August 25th, 2021. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 3PM Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery, North gate. The family will greet friends before the service at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels2Towers.org.
James was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Virginia Kent Allen and George Carlton Allen, Sr. He was also predeceased by his brother George Carlton Allen Jr.
James served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968, serving three tours of duty in Vietnam. During his Navy service, he was trained as a refrigeration and HVAC mechanic, which became his lifelong occupation. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and a 30-year member and past president of Snakebite Hunting Club. James was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a staunch supporter of the Constitution and the Second Amendment. He loved his country. James loved to play Texas Hold ‘em poker. Several years ago, he played in the Senior World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, placing “in the money”. He loved his family unconditionally. He never hesitated to help anyone in need. He was known as the guy who could repair anything.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Williams Allen of Macon; daughter, Lisa Allen Baker (Andy) of Forsyth; son, Ken Allen of Forsyth; grandchildren, Abigail Baker, Chase Allen (Amber) and Austin Allen; great-grandchildren, Haley Allen, Asher Allen and Saylor Allen; nephews, Tony (Allen) Bennett and Scott (Allen) Bennett.
