Jasper Vernon Smith

Jasper Vernon Smith, 89, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Wednesday, December 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Northway Church on Zebulon Road with Rev. Kevin Mills and the Honorable Judge Dan Pelletier officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service.

Jasper was born in Quitman, Georgia to the late James Vernon and Mattie Greer Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Jasper retired from Eastern Airlines after 30 years of service. He was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and Northway Baptist Church for a total of 65 years where he also served as a Deacon. He had a servants heart and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Perry Smith; children, Perry Lamar Smith and Greer Smith Pelletier and (The Honorable J. Dan Pelletier); grandchildren, Claire (John) Weaver, Dani (Chris) Taylor, Laura (Frankie) Smith, Beth (Matt) Peele, Rachel Pelletier, Daniel Pelletier, Glenn (Lindsey) Smith; fifteen great-grandchildren.
