

Jean was born in Columbus, Mississippi on January 31, 1937 as the daughter of the late Earline Hearon Lamar and Edgar Earl Lamar. She graduated from Stephen D. Lee High School in Columbus in 1955. Upon graduation, she worked for Southern Airlines, where she met the love of her life Bill Snow. On October 1, 1958, William Aaron Snow III and Jean were married in Macon, GA where they began their lives together. They were blessed with three children: Bill, Kathryn and Bob. They enjoyed spending time as a family at Patterson Island, the North Georgia Mountains and Fernandina Beach.
Jean served as Vice President of Snow’s Memorial Chapel, where she and her husband ministered to numerous families throughout Middle Georgia. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Macon and a constant attendee of the Canterbury Sunday School Class. She also served as President of The Hillandale Garden Club, as a member of The Junior League of Macon, and was a board member of the Salvation Army for over 20 years. Jean especially loved her dogs Patches and Tibi and was dearly loved by her family and all who knew her.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband William Aaron Snow, III after 61 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, William “Bill” A. Snow, IV (Karen), Kathryn Snow Cotton (Scott), and Robert “Bob” L. Snow (Dawn); grandchildren, Suzanne Snow Schilling (Carson), William A. Snow, V (Hope), Caroline Cotton Peeper (Corbin), S. Christopher Cotton, Jr., Lauren Elizabeth Cotton, Sam Snow, and Ben Snow; great-grandchildren, Carson and Shepard Schilling; sister, Joan Steineker.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road. Entombment will be held at Riverside Cemetery privately for family only. Rev. Hunter Stevenson, Rev. James Shipley and Mr. Bruce Goddard will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210 or to the donor’s favorite charity. The family also wants to extend their deepest gratitude to Pine Pointe Hospice as well as to Jean’s devoted caregivers: Sophia Patterson, Sandra Clay, Rhonda Brown, Tonya Moore, and Takashimaier “Tootie” Cooper for their love and dedication given to Jean.
