

Jeffrey Knox Denny, 53, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully after a courageous journey with brain cancer on Sunday, September 28, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Ralph Hawkins officiating. There will be a private graveside service with his family at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the memorial service at the church.
Born in Wise, Virginia, Jeff was a cradle Presbyterian. He was an active member and Elder of Northminster Presbyterian Church.
Jeff graduated Magna Cum Laude from Furman University in 1994, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science-Mathematics where he was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He earned a Master of Science in Mathematics in 1997 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics in 2000 at Florida State University.
For 25 years, Jeff served as a professor of mathematics at Mercer University, rising to the rank of Full Professor and later receiving the title of Professor Emeritus. From 2009 to 2025, he also served as Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dr. Lynn Taylor Denny; his children, Joshua Denny and Hannah Denny; his parents, Glenda and Charles Denny III; his brother, Rev. Dr. Christopher Denny (Alle); and his nephew, Charles Denny.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church (565 Wimbish Road, Macon 31210), Mercer University, Office of Advancement designating the gift for the Jeff Denny Memorial Scholarship (1501 Mercer University Drive, Macon 31207), or Pine Pointe Hospice (6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210).
Arrangements are entrusted to Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road.
