I remember Jeff bringing Josh to cub scouts with Pack 8. He was always light hearted and smiling making silly jokes. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray you all can find peace in his absence.

Dr. Denny, was a fantastic instructor and caring advisor. He was always curious, asking me once about the shape traced by an imbalanced ceiling fan.

I found some of my notes from serving as his SI leader back in 2012 I believe. His passion for mathematics and for education was always so clear. He had a lot of fun with the material as well--"Take it to the limit, one more time!"

My deepest condolences to his family. I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Denny made an immense positive difference for so many people. I'm glad to have known him.

Wow.  Dr. Denny was one of my favorite Mercer professors.  I and my twin brother had him at the same time for Differential Equations.  I appreciated his teaching style, willingness to help, and his great sense of humor.  You (Lynn) and Dr. Denny would come to Chick-fil-A sometimes when my brother and I were both working on the front counter.

Robin and I are so saddened to hear of your loss, Lynn.  We never had to privilege to meet Jeffery, but we are sure we would have the same love for him that we came to have for you. What are words, at at time such as this.  We love you, take care.

I grew up with Jeff's wife Lynn in Tennille and she and her family have always been dear to me.  I only met Jeff a few times but was so impressed by his warmth , kindness and deep caring for those around him. My husband Phil  & I send much love to Lynn, their children,  and all her family as they deal with this profound loss.

Our deepest sympathies are with the Denny’s.  We have fond memories watching our boys on the Lacrosse field.  Jeff was always so positive and engaged with the boys.  He always knew the plays, and was excited to share his knowledge.  He was the “parent coach” in the stands.  He will be missed!

Sending my condolences to the family! Professor Denny was such a wonderful and joyous person.  I will miss his smile and miss hearing his infectious laugh whenever I see him walking across the campus from the Caf! May  the Lord be with the Denny Family.

My husband & I have reflected over the last few days regarding our time with Dr. Denny. His statistics class was one of the first classes I took at Mercer. He made it an engaging experience that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I don't think many people could say that about a math class! This is certainly a huge loss for the Mercer community. His family has been on my heart and mind since I heard the news, and I will keep you in my prayers. May Dr. Denny's memory be a blessing. I know his joy and passion for math and life will continue to be a blessing in the lives of my husband and me.

We know Jeff from his school days in Sumter, SC.  His parents, Glenda and Charlie, are wonderful people.  Jeff was blessed to be part of their family along with his little brother, Chris.  The boys were good kids and the parents were actively involved in their school and Church lives.  Our hearts ache for the family.  May God bless you and give you peace.

Jeff Denny was my friend and colleague at Mercer University. He was a Professor, Administrator, and above all, one of the best examples of a human being anyone could hope to meet. My prayers of support are extended to his family and friends in this time of need. Please know he is with God and is in heaven with his Savior. I will always cherish my friendship with him and his wonderful sense of humor and unwavering dedication to help any student realize their full potential. I certainly hope someone has a recording of Jeff's infectious laugh. It is a classic!

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear colleague. It was a privilege to work alongside him, a brilliant professor of mathematics and an even more remarkable human being. He was a truly kind, and gentle soul who was always smiling. His warmth, generosity, willingness to help others,  passion for teaching, and his contagious laugh will be remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.  My condolences to his whole family. I hope they find some solace at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Jeff.

I am a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia South Carolina Jeff’s brother Chris Denny is our pastor. What a fine family Jeff was part of reading his obituary. He sounds like such an accomplished individual. I wanted to express my sympathy to his wife and children, to his parents and to Chris’s family as well. Bless all of you and I pray for comfort as you share the wonderful memories you have of Jeff.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember speaking with Jeff at a majors expo. The passion he had for math was evident. I am sure the passion he had for each of you burned through even stronger.

I am sending my heartfelt condolences to all the family, friends, and colleagues that Jeff touched throughout his life. I am fortunate to have had the privilege of knowing Jeff and considering him a friend.  Praying for comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding in the coming days for the entire family.

The Denny family has experienced a deep loss, and the Mercer family carries it with you. 

Dr. Denny had a profound influence on me as a student, a supplemental instruction leader, and an adjunct instructor. He narrated his teaching decisions in ways that helped me understand what was important in our Abstract Algebra courses (two, and he wasn't a push over professor!). As the SI leader in his precalculus course, I saw him juggle first-time fatherhood with doing right by his students. I also admired his ability to communicate math concepts. Then, upon hiring, I watched Dr. Denny guide us adjuncts through onboarding and curriculum selection. 

But, there was an in-between day that influenced the trajectory of my life, and it is the day I go back to often in my career. I was a recent Mercer graduate back in town visiting and pondering my career choices. I ran into Dr. Denny on the Quad, and we talked about an open math teaching job. I told Dr. Denny that I needed to do something that matters in the world. He said, "I teach math so that my students can make better lives for themselves." And, I adopted that as the reason for my professional work. 

Dr. Denny did right by us as his students, he did right by his family, he did right by his colleagues, and he taught us to do right by the people we influence. The ripples will continue for as long as the mind's eye can see.

Lynn, I'm praying for peace & comfort for you & family.

I had the privilege of working under Dr. Jeff Denny’s leadership, and his kindness, wisdom, and unmistakable mathematical wit will always be remembered. His legacy will live on in the many lives he'd touched, guided, and inspired throughout his career.
