

MACON – John W. “Jack” Mills, 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at a local nursing care facility. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. His ashes will be interred beside his wife at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Norm Yukers will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m., to service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Mills was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie J. Mills and by his parents, Thomas W. Mills and Bertha Wester Mills. A lifelong resident of Macon, he served with the U. S. Navy during World War II and was aircraft maintenance supervisor retired from Robins Air Force Base. Mr. Mills was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He had been a member and served as president of the Macon-West Exchange Club. Mr. Mills loved children and worked with the Methodist Home for Children and Youth in planning their summer trips and outings.
An outstanding husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by those he loved most, his daughter, Cynthia Spencer of Byron; his son, Johnny Mills of Eastman; his grandson, Robert Nations; his great grandson and his sister, Mary DeBietry of Macon.
