
Macon, GA- Mrs. Lois Baxter Brown died October 18, 2012, at Bolingreen Nursing Center after a long illness. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will meet friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., on Monday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Georgia, Heart of Georgia Humane Society or The Cannonball House.
Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Blanton Baxter of Tattnall County, Georgia. She was a graduate of Glennville High School and Bob Jones College, now Bob Jones University, class of 1943.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Rowland Brown of Macon, and her brother Samuel Mack Baxter, of Glennville Georgia. She became a Macon resident following her marriage in 1944. She was a long time member of Ingleside Baptist Church and the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brown was an avid golfer, gardener and bridge player. She was a member of the Riverside Golf and Country Club, Northwood's Garden Club and the Tuesday Night Bridge Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Katherine Brown, of Macon, two nephews, D. Mark Baxter of Macon and John S. Baxter of Glennville, a niece Rebecca B. Thompson of Glennville, and eight great nieces and great nephews.
