Margaret Page Easterlin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and educator, passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 74. She was surrounded by love and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and faith.
Margaret grew up in Byromville, Georgia, where her early years were rooted in close family and community. A gifted and driven student, she graduated from high school one year early to attend Emory University at Oxford, and went on to graduate from Emory University in 1972. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Florida State University in 1973 and later received her Education Specialist degree from the University of Georgia in 1977.
She married the love of her life, J.B. Easterlin, in 1975, and enjoyed fifty years of a wonderful marriage. Together they built a life grounded in love, adventure, and deep companionship.
Margaret had a lifelong love of learning, travel, and music. She sang in the Emory Traveling Choir and the Mulberry Methodist Church Choir, filling every room with joy through her voice. She was also an avid tennis player and aerobics instructor, bringing energy and enthusiasm to everything she did. She gave her time and heart to serving others, including many years as a volunteer with Daybreak and the Mentors Project of Bibb County.
Early in her life, Margaret worked as a hostess aboard the U.S. Emerald Seas, sparking a passion for travel. She later lived in Zurich, Switzerland, where she worked at the zoo and spent her weekends exploring Europe — often meeting up with J.B. along the way. She carried that love of discovery into her classroom, taking students on educational trips to Europe and opening their eyes to the wider world.
Margaret dedicated 33 years to teaching and shaping young minds. She began her career at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), then taught English at Decatur City High School and Warner Robins High School, and spent the remainder of her career as an English professor at Middle Georgia State University (formerly Macon State College), where she made a lasting impact on countless students before retiring. In her retirement, she continued sharing her gift by tutoring students.
As a grandmother, she was lovingly known as “Moc Moc.” She adored her grandchildren and delighted in putting on “concerts” with them, creating memories filled with laughter, music, and pure joy. Her favorite place in all the world was Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Some of her happiest moments were spent sipping wine with J.B. in the late afternoons, watching the waves roll in and the sun go down.
Above all, Margaret was the heart of her family — full of kindness and generosity. As a mother, she was endlessly supportive and wise. As a wife, she was a true partner in every sense of the word. She loved her husband and daughters dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer Carson Page and Sarah Hill Page.
She is survived by her loving husband, J.B. Easterlin; her daughters, Maggie Cutrell (married to Dayne Cutrell) and their children McKenzie and Carson; Corinne Harper (married to Wil Harper) and their children Millie and Margaret; and Mary Bennett Pickens (married to Michael Pickens) and their son Bennett. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jo Jeter (married to Groves Jeter), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Margaret’s legacy is one of kind curiosity, compassionate listening, and abundant generosity. Her presence will be missed more than words can express, and her spirit will live on in every life she touched.
