April 25, 1956 – November 6, 2013
Mark Daniel Bikus, age 57, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 6, 2013. A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11th at Christ Episcopal Church, 582 Walnut Street, with the Reverend Harriette J. Simmons officiating. The family will greet friends after the service in the Cloister Room at the Church.
Mark was born and raised in Macon. He graduated from Mount de Sales High School in 1974 and from Mercer University in 1978. He began his career in the banking industry at the Georgia Bank and Trust Company in 1978. Due to the many changes in the banking world, through mergers and acquisitions, Mark worked at Georgia Bank, Bank South, First Macon Bank, Colonial Bank, Rivoli Bank and Security Bank. He was an exceptional Loan Officer who truly loved his customers, co-workers and his 29 year career. Retirement due to disability was the only reason that Mark was not still working. Mark’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. He was a kind and gentle man; a true friend to neighbors, co-workers and supervisors alike.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Deedee Anita Ray Bikus and Peter A. Bikus, Sr.; his brother, Peter A. “Andy” Bikus, Jr., and his half brother-in-law, Jerry Kutz.
Mark is survived by his beloved companion of 16 years, Bonnie Hollingsworth, her son, Cory Hollingsworth of Athens, GA; her sisters, Nancy Walters of Roanoke, VA, and Joanne Blair of Marietta, GA, and her niece Ashley Walters of Roanoke, VA.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Agnes Bikus of Macon, GA; brother, David Lee Bikus (JoAnn) of Jacksonville, FL, his nephew, Brad Bikus (Megan) of Jacksonville, FL and his niece Janene Bikus of Alexandria, VA. Mark is also survived by his half sister, Pat Kutz of Shorewood, IL, her daughter, Wendy and son, Jake also of Shorewood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be given to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, 31210 or PKD Foundation (Polycystic Kidney Disease), 8330 Ward Parkway, Suite 510, Kansas City, MO 64114.
