

Patricia O’Brien Blaha, 79, passed away on Thursday, August 28 at Pine Pointe Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 1 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Michael Kavanaugh officiating. Inurnment will be at Andersonville National Cemetery on Friday, September 5. A rosary service will be on Sunday, August 31 at 5 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. The family will greet friends from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4074 Chambers Road, Macon 31206.
Pat was born in Medina, Ohio, to the late Irene O’Brien and Charles Joseph O’Brien, Sr. She was preceded in eternal life by her husband, James G. Blaha. Pat grew up in Conneaut, Ohio, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She lived in Hawaii for almost 25 years. Pat received an Associates of Nursing Degree from Macon State College, and after retirement from the retail industry became an RN, working at both Coliseum Rehab and The Medical Center. For the past 24 years, she has been an active member of Holy Spirit Church where she served as their music director. At Holy Spirit she was also involved in the Catholic of Catholic Women and was the Founder of Helping Hands Outreach. Pat served the music ministry of the Catholic Church for over 60 years, playing the organ at daily Mass since she was 16 years old. She volunteered at Family Advancement Ministries. Pat was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane (Tracy) Gray of Forsyth; grandchildren, John James Staggs, Dalton Lee Gray and Jenna Leigh Gray; brother Charles (Susan) J. O’Brien, Jr. of Medina, OH, and several nieces.
The family of Pat Blaha is extremely thankful for those very special people who assisted with her care and spiritual support, providing both comfort and helping hands throughout her journey home. May God bless you abundantly for your love and kindness.
