Patricia “Patty” Carol Ellis, 63, joined her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at her residence. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Gary Thomas and Roland M. Holloway will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to service time on Friday at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions, may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1160 Forsyth Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Patty, a native of Macon, was the daughter of the late Joe William and Ida Frances Cook Johnson and sister of the late Joseph Johnson. She was a graduate of Jonesco Academy where she was elected Homecoming Queen, was a member of Sigma Alpha Sorority and a sponsor for Chi Delta Fraternity. Patty was honored by the Southeastern Native American Creek Tribe for her contribution to preserving their culture in the Southeast. She was business manager with Ocmulgee National Park Monument Association for twenty-three years.
Patty was a member of Elam Baptist Church and lived the commitment of her faith to her family and to all who knew her. Above all else she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter-in-law who was totally devoted to her family, her faith, and her friends.
Survivors include those she loved most, her husband and best friend of forty-five years, O. Wayne Ellis of Juliette; her daughters, Christy Ellis (Mark) Rowland, Melody Ellis and Valerie Ellis (Michael) Walton, all of Macon; her beloved grandchildren to whom she was known as “Mimi,” Cole Rowland, Clay Rowland, Justin Walton, Megan Walton, Kennedy Walton, Ellie Rowland, Kasten Ellis and Miles Walton; her sister, Becky Stevens of Cadwell; her brother, Mark (Lesa) Johnson of Macon; her mother-in-law, Lillian Ellis of Macon; her sister-in-law, Sheila Ellis (Duncan) Matthews, of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
